How We Can Help

We focus on helping clients achieve the right balance between process, people and technology.

Process: We help clients design, deploy, institutionalize and improve their processes. We draw upon our familiarity with best practice frameworks such as the Capability Maturity Models, other industry standards and Bodies of Knowledge, and industry benchmark data to baseline and establish achievable targets for process performance. Well-designed, appropriately flexible, repeatable processes make it possible for an organization to promise what they can deliver and deliver what they promise.

People: Because it is people who execute processes, we advise on ensuring their buy-in, defining clear roles and responsibilities, developing competencies, and addressing issues of resource availability. These factors are just as critical to success as is process design.

Technology: We assist clients in identifying where (and how) automation can serve to make processes and people more efficient.

Our Distinctives

Each of Layman & Layman's principals and staff consultants has decades of business experience specializing in the software field. This breadth and depth of industry experience gives us a potent ability to:

  • diagnose complex situations
  • build custom roadmaps for our clients
  • provide proven, usable assets and techniques
  • coach/assist client internal leaders and change agents

Our approach to process improvement consulting is consultative rather than prescriptive. The resulting partnership relationship with clients is our professional hallmark and the reason much of our engagement portfolio consists of repeat and referral business.
